Catalina's Milky Way Dreams
(c) Re- Written 2024 - By The Depressed Poet, Doc Dalton
Shooting Stars and fast moving CarsRumble through the roads of my mindTick-e-ty Tock, the old sounds of the clockSay's it's almost a quarter past nine
The moons surely rising, the stars are a glidingAnd Mr. Sandman is ready to roamHurry off to bed and put your pillow under your headHe might just be visiting you tonight at homeDrifting off to sleep is such a wonderful featAdventures you'll enjoy on your ownMaking new friends on a journey to no endA secrete life that is yours all aloneDon't be afraid of those gobble lee goo'sOr those pirates drifting to sea on their boatsThere's no need to worry there just in your dreamsLike rainbow clouds and cotton candy floatsOh that sky's full of colors of make believe wondersExciting every step of the wayCan't you let me stay for just a little bit longerPlease, don't take my Dreams a wayTo see this through a child's eyesOn the path to where stars brightly beamThrough a different world of twist and twirlsWon't you come to my Milky Way DreamsWe could have so much funUnder an ice cream sun and laugh our time awaySing some M & M songs the whole day longUntil we awake to brand new day
Pluto say's hey kiddo don't get out of bedAs Snakel Puss laughs and says, ah it's OKKKKKKKKPopeye yell's, were gone in a minute after I eat me spinachPoo say's all aboard my Banana Split SleighOh that Sky's full of colors of make believe wondersExciting every step of the wayCan't you let me stay for just a little bit longerWorry not Catalina, we won't take your Dreams a way
To see this through a child's eyesOn the path to where stars brightly beamThrough a different world of twist and twirlsWon't you come to my Milky Way Dreams
Catalina say's, please come join me, on my Milky Way Dreams

Theres an old man sitting by the side of the road
With a whiskey bottle and a hand bearing heavy load
His eyes tell stories of dreams long gone
A life of misery but he keeps holding on

Open promises fading into the glare
With countless years of drinkin what did he expect
A mind filled with shadows, confusion and alone
Its so hard to remember in a heart made of stone

Will they remember that man on the side of the road
With a whiskey bottle and holes in his soul
Hes weathered the storms but still feels the rain
With countless reminders of heart ache and rain
With dreams of many and rewards of few
He's living with a memory and ghosts of what he knew

He just turned 80 living on borrowed time
One foot in the grave ain't got a single dime
No one knows what tomorrow might bring
A day of sunshine or a day that makes you sting

A pat on the back or a heart full of shame
A day of confusion or just playing the same game
With a bottle beside him hes lost in his thoughts
He said for lullaby's for battles he lost

Will they remember that man on the side of the road
With a whiskey bottle and holes in his soul
Hes weathered the storms but still feels the rain
With countless reminders of heart ache and rain
With dreams of many and rewards of few
He's living with a memory and ghosts of what he knew

The sun set in low casting shadows so long
A life full of missteps where did it go wrong
Counting the stars while forgetting those scars
Singing old country tunes beneath the dark bars

Deep down inside he still holds a spark
A glimmer of hope in the mix of the dark
With each passing moment hes searching for peace
A day to remember a finale release

With a whiskey bottle and holes in his soul
Hes weathered the storms but still feels the rain
With countless reminders of heart ache and rain
With dreams of many and rewards of few
He's living with a memory and ghosts of what he knew

So if you pass by, lend him an ear
Share a kind word and wipe away a tear
For tomorrows not promised as stories unfold
Lets remember that man with his whiskey and tourn soul

Cause life is a tapestry woven with sorrow
But perhaps there's a chance for a brighter tomorrow
